I hmmed and hawed over this skirt for about 15 minutes as I tried to decide whether I could pull it off or not. Standing in the Miss Selfridge store in Castlecourt shopping centre, a number of questions were running through my head. Do I suit this? I’m pretty sure I had one of these when I was 12?! Am I too old to wear this now?
Doubt creeps in when I veer off the straight and narrow and enter into fashion territory unknown and very unfamiliar. I normally stick to what I know when it comes to clothes, especially now as I’m getting older. When I was in my early 20s I really experimented, sometimes unsuccessfully, but at least I gave new trends a shot. Now that I’m nearing the end of my 20s, I find it harder to try out new styles. I feel quite self conscious and like I’m having a crisis of taste. Picking up a denim skirt was extremely hard to do, but I figure that even if it only makes a few outings this season, I will know that I stretched myself and tried something different.
Wearing this skirt makes me feel like I’m back in my early teen years, when the Spice Girls were big, skirts were mini and platform shoes were ridiculous. I can clearly picture baby spice wearing something like this skirt! It’s very comfy, practical and looks great with ankle boots.
For this outfit, I’ve kept it quite simple with a pop of colour from one of my favourite Nica handbags. Thank you to Castlecourt for giving me a voucher to spend as part of their 25th anniversary, I purchased quite a bit including jeans, homewares and this pretty denim skirt. If you’re in town, do pop in. My favourite stores are Miss Selfridge, Debenhams and esepcially Superdrug for it’s salivating selection of makeup treats.

Abby the beagle puppy checking out my outfit, as you do when you’re a pup.
Happy hump day! xo
