Dining out is one of my favourite things to do and when it comes with a stay at a luxury hotel, a full body massage and a day of indulgence at a world renowned health and wellness destination, then it’s safe to say that I have well and truly found my happy place!
The last time I was in Galgorm Resort and Spa was over 12 years ago, when I rolled up in a red 1920s style dress for my high school formal. I hadn’t been back since, not because I had a god awful formal experience or because I had no interest in returning, it just never crossed my mind. For the past 5 years myself and my boyfriend have returned to Crawfordsburn inn, another Northern Ireland based luxury hotel and restaurant, for our annual pre-christmas stay. It’s a lovely tradition but it’s nice to seek out somewhere new to explore every now and again.
My big birthday weekend was just 2 weeks ago and I thought what better way to celebrate than with a party on the Saturday and a stopover in the Galgorm on the Sunday?! I can honestly say it was the loveliest weekend and the best hotel experience that I’ve had in a long time. Everything screamed first class service and pure indulgence from the deluxe room, to the 3 course fine dining experience and from the new thermal village to the 55 minute spa treatment.
Myself and my boyfriend arrived Sunday afternoon and promptly dressed in our robes for our full body massages in the spa downstairs. The therapist treated me to a scalp massage before applying aromatherapy associates oils to soothe and relax my muscles and body. Pure bliss.
Dinner was booked in the River Room for 7.30pm, so we freshened up and headed down for a couple of glasses of wine before our meal. My boyfriend and I are foodies and I have to say we were very, very impressed with the dining experience from the locally sourced food, to the flavours, the presentation and the service. It right up there in my top 5 the best meals of all time and we have eaten in a number of reputable restaurants over the years.
Following on from our deliciousIt’s clear to see that Galgorm has invested a huge amount into their Thermal Village. Incorporating a hot tub, hydrotherapy pool, swimming pool and sauna amongst other pampering and relaxation features, it’s the best place to relax, unwind and de-stress. The following morning, my boyfriend and I had a wander around the village trying out the different areas. My favourite is the River House, the view is simply beautiful.
Outfit: Dunnes skirt, Primark shirt, River Island ankle boots, Nica handbag, Earrings from Hong kong, TK Maxx sunglasses
The next day we ordered breakfast to our room before taking a leisurely walk around the grounds (well I walked and my boyfriend hobbled around on his crutches), enjoying the scenic countryside and the warm sunshine.
I can honestly that my boyfriend and I loved every minute. It was indeed a weekend of pure indulgence and relaxation and an amazing way to spend my 30th birthday. Thank you Galgorm Resort and Spa for a memorable experience, I will be booking our next trip soon!
