Sadly we are edging towards the end of the Summer season with the imminent arrival of dark, autumnal days filled with fallen leaves, cooler temperatures and brisk, strong winds.
Although I will miss the summer sunshine, I am eagerly anticipating the new season. Perhaps this is because I can now stock up on winter woollens, ankle boots and cosy throws without a glimmer of guilt. Or maybe it’s because I’m excited for a spooktacular Halloween or I’m feeling ready for the Christmas rush, picking out and decorating a real tree and sharing good grub and drinks with loved ones.
Whatever it is, I am looking forward to the last quarter of the year, to hopefully spend more time with friends and family and to refresh my home with the all the joys and snuggle features of an autumnal/winter season.
Whilst the weather is still pretty warmish, I have taken the opportunity to purchase a chic white shirt from Zara, beautifully embroidered with flowers and leaves. Due to the length of the sleeves, it’s an item that will only suit in warmer weather, so I’d say I’ll get another 3 weeks out of it before I have to stow it away in favour of an oversized sweatshirt or a high neck jumper.
The situ for today’s post is Gosford Park, a fair jaunt for us but a lovely place to visit on a sunny Sunday. My boyfriend and I had a stroll around the grounds before heading back to watch Pete’s Dragon with his sister. An absolute must see film if you want a good cry and a heartwarming tale of an unlikely friendship.
Are you ready to let go of the summer sun for amber shades of autumn and cool winter walks?
Maybe Im speaking too soon. When the snow falls, we run out of oil and it’s baltic outside, I will be wishing that it was summer all over again….
