October has truly set in and I can feel a distinct chill in the air. I’ve had to dig out my winter coats and scarves to make sure I’m wrapped up and feeling nice and cosy. Layering is ideal for me as I like to be able to strip off when I’ve been out and about and I get a little hot and bothered. Sweating in a chunky knit is so uncomfortable and irritating!
When it comes to the autumn/winter months, one piece that I always recommend investing in is a good comfy coat. You will end up wearing a coat day in and day out and often it will be the only piece that people see you in, so why not make it something worth remembering!
Northern Ireland is quite a cold and wet place for 95% of the year, hence the need for warm practical outerwear. I can be a bit of a magpie when it comes to shopping, going for the bright and patterned items over the sensible stable options. When Target Dry contacted me about styling one of their items, I thought to myself ‘perfect, now I can actually have something suitable to combat the elements’!
I’ve always fancied a barbour jacket and this Cheltenham quilted coat fits in with that style quite nicely. The coat is waterproof and windproof, with a detachable hood. I love the inner lining as the floral detail adds a bit of feminine appeal. I styled it with a white l’amour text sweatshirt from H&M, a vintage skirt and my favourite boots of the moment, my River Island chelsea block heel boots which you can see in the video below.
I think this is my ideal outfit for a casual day out. The sweatshirt is ridiculously soft and cosy, the boots are so comfortable and the coat adds a little bit of texture.
